After World War II and the egregious crimes of Germany’s Nazi regime, the trials at Nuremberg constituted a visible international attempt to punish war criminals. The tribunal introduced two new international crimes, namely crimes against peace and crimes against humanity. Soldiers could no longer claim immunity from punishment for violating the laws of war by invoking the defense of superior orders.

In 1948, the United Nations promulgated the Genocide Convention to prohibit any government or person from the planning or the carrying out of plans to destroy a people. This treaty protects ethnic, racial, religious, and national groups from destruction. It forbids not only their killing in whole or part but also other measures meant to eliminate groups of people through policies of abortion, sterilization, seizure of children, separation of families, forced deportation, and depopulation. Persons guilty of planning or executing such policies may be tried by a court in the state where the act was committed or by international bodies recognized by treaty members. An example of such an international tribunal includes the recently established International Criminal Court (ICC), which may take legal action against persons, including heads of state, accused of genocide.

Think it over… “eliminate groups of people through policies of: seizure of children, separation of families….> This treaty protects… national groups from destruction.

61 – PRECISAMENTE. Aliás os fransceses ficaram tão irritados que a impresna foi periodicamente informada das fugas de informação que os negociadores espanhóis fizeram para aqueles que o Zapatero então chamava “hombres de pazzz”.

E claro também ajudou à motivação francesa os espanhóis ainda no tempo do Aznar terem comprado helicópteros militares aos franceses.

Não gostei essencialmente da superioridade moral . Tão típica da esquerda, aliás. Quando fala de causas como o ambiente ou os direitos humanos. Como se fossem exclusivo da esquerda. No caso em apreço, parece que o combate ao terrorismo é exclusiva da direita.

Meu caro, não há superioridade moral nem da esquerda nem da direita. Parafraseando alguém, há boa e má moeda.

Convém não esquecer um “pequeno” pormenor : a ETA, há cerca de dois anos, num acesso de entusiasmo talvez fortalecido pelas concessões do Bambi,fez, pela primeira vez na sua história, reivindicações a Paris quanto ao País Basco Francês.
Pessoas geralmente bem informadas garantem que,no Eliseu e adjacências,ninguém achou graça – e o “santuário” do sul de França tornou-se,a partir daí,menos recomendável. E, de súbito e numa cadência nunca vista , terroristas e apoio logístico começam a ser caçados pelos franceses.
Além disso,com aquele episódio desagradável das Twin Towers,a tolerância americana em relação ao IRA desapareceu, o que também teve os seus efeitos na ETA.
Os próximos episódios do folhetim Dejuana Chaos pode fornecer mais dados sobre o elo transatlântico…
